Kinja'd!!!

So, for the last week, and off and on all year, I've really wanted a motorcycle...despite my budget having about -500 bucks a month to buy one with (no typo there, two car loans and electricity on an uninsulated house is bleh) but today it was really bad, I completely ignored tv and games to stare at bikes on CL all day. Craaaaaaaap. Also I don't even have a motorcycle license yet, and I've only ridden once before, which ended in a small crash. Sigh.

A small slice of the bikes I've been looking at...

Take it from someone who started on a big 80's brusier. Start light, it will hurt a lot less WHEN you drop it.

Read this. Right near the top there is a VERY good reason why I dindt but anything like that one the list.

If you are not thinking: ok, I'll get a 600CC sport bike those are cheap, read this.

Then remember you will need gear.

But on budget of 500 a month, I would wait until you are a little more on your feet before buying something.

Good info there, I shall remember it.

In all honesty I was thinking of getting a TU250x or something along those lines, but browsing CL is so much more interesting than re-reading the manufacturer's info and same reviews again and again. :P

I'm the first person to admit I have not much of a clue about bikes, aside from one bad experience with a drunk dirtbike owner who managed to hurt me pretty badly. I've also been looking at the TU250x, Misfit, and other smaller things that run to my taste, but with no moneys to buy any of them anyway at the moment, it's all pretty theoretical.

The 250x is a great bike.

I would never dream of telling someone how to spend their own money, but personally I have never seen the point of a new motorcycle. For cars things like safety, warranty, and better fuel economy can make new cars the right choice for some. When it comes to bikes all of these things are irrelevant. You experience all the depreciation without any of the fringe benefits associated with new car ownership.
